Are You Ready For Google's Changes ?

Hey Scousers and Wirral Folk Readers!

You might already be aware of this if you’re following the latest changes that Google makes to their search algorithm.

But just in case you don’t, I wanted to send you a ‘Heads-up’ going over the changelog since it’s SUPER IMPORTANT stuff for LOCAL Marketer.

So let’s get down to business:

Google announced that search ranking will incorporate Core Web Vitals as an important ranking signal.

The upcoming ranking signal will be known as the Page Experience Signal.

This ranking signal will incorporate Core Web Vitals as well as the following metrics:

  • Mobile-friendliness
  • Safe-browsing
  • HTTPS-security
  • Intrusive interstitial guidelines

If you’re confused about the term ‘Core Web Vitals’ think of it as a set of metrics related to speed, responsiveness and visual stability.

Here’s how Google defines these 3 core web vitals:

  • Largest Contentful Paint: The time it takes for a page’s main content to load. An ideal LCP measurement is 2.5 seconds or faster.
  • First Input Delay: The time it takes for a page to become interactive. An ideal measurement is less than 100 ms.
  • Cumulative Layout Shift: The amount of unexpected layout shift of visual page content. An ideal measurement is less than 0.1.

These 3 metrics are designed to help site owners measure their user experience they provide when it comes to loading, visual stability and interactivity.

Important: These metrics are not set in stone. Google is still actively working on this update so we might see changes in the near future. But don’t worry, we’ll keep you posted.

Now to the most important question:

  • How does this affect me?

Well, as a LOCAL/VIDEO/SEO Marketer, you need to be on top of every change that Google makes in order to dominate those SERPs for yourself and your clients.

We are going to do everything in our power to make sure you will succeed with this, but you need to do your part.
